Milton takes ‘vote-buying’ allegations seriously

I am writing regarding the November 8, 2017 article “Facebook post under investigation” by Hatcher Hurd. First and foremost, thank you for the article and the accurate reporting. I take very seriously the allegations of vote-buying and plan to fully cooperate with the Secretary of State’s investigation.

Up until now, I have chosen to respond directly only to those reporters who contacted me for comment regarding the “We Call Milton” Facebook posts. However, following the November 20, 2017 Milton City Council meeting, where councilmember Thurman and Kunz questioned this before voting to confirm the election results, I believe it is important that I offer a formal statement regarding the alleged vote-buying activities. I am not affiliated with the “We Call Milton” Facebook page, nor do I have any personal involvement with the posts offered by the account owner and/or administrators of this account. I take these allegations very seriously and have made it clear that I would never condone such an activity, and I am confident that neither of the other candidates mentioned would either.

Sincerely, Joe Lockwood, Milton mayor
